Cosmetologists (Operators)

An operator is an individual authorized by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) to perform any act or practice of cosmetology established by the state. An operator has the highest standards for background education and the most depth of expertise available in the field.

Operator License Renewal

A cosmetologist operator is required to take 4 hours of continuing education, including 1 hour of material dealing with sanitation to renew their license. Our TDLR-approved course covers the following topics:

  • Sanitation (1 hour)
  • Skin (1 hour)
  • Hair & Nails (1 hour)
  • OSHA Regulations (1 hour)

Total: 4 hours of continuing education credits.
